Women’s Health

Urinary and faecal incontinence can be an embarrassing and debilitating problem. We assess the cause of the problem via detailed history taking and pelvic floor assessment. Our treatments include pelvic floor exercises with EMG biofeedback, advice on diet and fluid intake, bladder diaries and drills as well as muscle stimulation if appropriate. We have close links with Andrew Hextall, Urogynaecololgist for further investigation and possible drug or surgical intervention.

Women’s Health and returning to sport

We can assess your physical ability to return to sport: You not only require a certain level of lower limb strength and balance; pelvic floor strength, abdominal muscle integrity and pelvic organ prolapse all need to be assessed and addressed. Especially if you want to return to running type sports which may aggravate any pre existing weaknesses caused by child birth or menopause.

Your return to sport assessment and treatment will include a full physical strength screening assessment for your chosen sport as well as an examination of your abdominal/pelvic floor muscles and organs for signs of weakness or prolapse.

Treatment sessions will help you achieve your goals and will include your own written strength training programme for the areas requiring attention and a paced plan to return you to your sport. You may require more focused sessions on areas that you are finding difficult to strengthen or you may be advised to seek  a medical opinion for pelvic organ prolapse.
